Everything You Need to Know About Ulsan

2010 Ulsan Cup

In their third year in the Ulsan Amateur Football League, Ulsan Metropolitan City and The Won Shot Wanderers Football Club have teamed up again to bring you the 2010 Ulsan Cup. They are putting together the best expatriate soccer teams on the peninsula to battle it out in the only country-wide cup for expatriate soccer in Korea. The tournament will be held November 20th and 21st.

After the huge success of the 2008 tournament and the added quality of the 2009 tournament, the 2010 tournament is shaping up to be the best yet. Last year 13 expatriate teams from all over Korea competed in a tournament that had great atmosphere. Many of those that competed last year are returning and in addition a number of others have joined. This year the size of the tournament is being increased. There will be 16 teams competing for the cup. These teams will  bring many supporters to this event and there will be an influx of foreign visitors to the city over the course of the weekend.

The aim this year is to build upon the successes of the previous years and the League has implemented a number of suggestions to make the tournament better. A more streamlined set of communications should keep both members and spectators better informed while more efficient registration should make things easier for players both before and during the tournament.  The League has implemented special dispensation for those teams coming the furthest away and will try to, where possible, schedule the games of the more distant teams to start later in the tournament and finish earlier. Also special access to equipment has been set up for those who may have left their personal gear behind or have gear malfunctions.

As with last year teams will be provided with the following;

  • Four top class artificial turf pitches.
  • Dedicated medical staff & ambulances.
  • Free shuttle buses to ferry teams to and from hotels, pitches and to the players’ dinner.
  • KFA regulated referees & third officials.
  • Winners’ purse & trophy.
  • Runners’ up purse & plate.
  • Player & Club awards.
  • A dedicated hotel near the pitches with discounted rates for Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights (including players’ families).
  • Complimentary players’ dinner on the Saturday night.
  • Western food & refreshments during the tournament.

There will be many games through out the weekend at two different locations in the city. Teams will play for a winners trophy and a runners up plate. The League guarantees you spectator football all weekend long.

The first round of games will be played  on Saturday, the 20th of November at Ulsan International Archery Pitches using group rounds. The first games will start at 9:00 am and the final game of the day will end at 6:00pm. With 3 pitches and eight hours teams and spectators will be party to 24 hours of games.
