F2 Visa holders eligible for Citizenship

Beginning January 1st, 2010, holders of F2 visas – those foreign nationals who have married a Korean – will be eligible to become Korean citizens and renounce their foreign citizenship.  If you are particularly talented, however, you needn’t even marry a Korean or give up your own nationality: you can hold dual citizenship status. No word yet on whether the term particularly talented means being able to polish off an entire Hite in one gulp.

All of this is in response to both the “brain drain”, the steady outward flow of smart folks from Korea to other industrialized nations and the very low birth rate in Korea.
