Everything You Need to Know About Ulsan

Rock Out in the ROK

by Deirdre Madden

If you’re tired of K-pop and want to hear some real rock music, check out the 12th Annual Busan International Rock Festival this weekend at the Samrak Sports Park near Gimhae.

The free event takes place over three days, starting Friday evening from 4:30 – 10:30, and continuing on Saturday and Sunday at the same times. The lineup of bands includes mainly Korean rock bands, with some other nationalities represented. Check the website here http://www.rockfestival.co.kr/ENG/Rock/01.asp for the full list of performers.

For directions, check out this site. http://etour.busan.go.kr/02_sightseeing/05_01/1232389_4404.jsp

From Ulsan, you can take the bus to Nopodong, and then take Busan city bus 148 to Deokcheon Station (stop #126). (These directions are from the site, so I’m not sure why you wouldn’t take the subway to Deokcheon, but perhaps it’s much longer/more complicated).

Or take the KTX to Busan Station, and then the subway to Dongdaesin station (stop # 123).
