Papille: Modern French Cuisine in Ulsan
When it comes to Western restaurants in Ulsan, there are seemingly no shortage of places offering pasta or French fries. However, on closer inspection you find that they are not as authentic as we’d like them to be. Many are nothing more than Korean fusion restaurants.
Papille, a new restaurant in Taehwadong, is offering authentic modern French cuisine with the dedication of a trained chef. Papille is located by the Taewha River Grand Park and offers a stunning view.
Co-owner and chef Alexandre Papin has worked at many prestigious restaurants throughout his career, such as Atelier de Joël Robuchon in London (Michelin 2 stars) and Maison Boulud (Ritz Carlton) in Montréal, Canada. He is a French native who now is dedicated to bringing fresh French food to Ulsan. Adding a touch of style to the front of house operations is co-owner Jieun Yu whose friendliness and attentive personality will make sure you are looked after. Together they make Papille an amazing dining experience for everyone.
The food that Chef Papin creates is not only delicious but beautifully presented in a way that only a high level chef is capable of. The restaurant only uses seasonal vegetables and top quality ingredients for it’s dishes. The end result is a dinner that is better than any of the more expensive restaurants in city, if not the country.
Papille is the perfect place for you to take a date or just sample high-end dining at a reasonable price. They also have a great wine list from all the different regions in France.
Their main menu is a 5-course dinner for about 58,000won. There is also a 7-course tasting menu suggested by chef for 110,000 won (reservation only). Papille also has a 2-course lunch for 28,000 won. Their menu will be updated regularly at least 2 times per month, so you will never get bored of the same dishes.
Papille is located near the front gate of the Taehwa River Grand Park. It’s on the 3rd floor above the caffe Pasucci. The atmosphere is extremely comfortable and is perfect for a special night out or a business dinner. There is ample parking in front of the restaurant (free after 7 pm) and in the parking lot next the restaurant.
If you are looking for high-end dining and do not feel like paying millions of won for it, then Papille is for you. Ulsan finally has a restaurant worth bragging about.
